Korean War Cabinets: Perpetual Crisis

A first for the Vancouver Model United Natiosn, this pair of crisis committees simulates the diplomatic and strategic intrigue surrounding the events of the Korean War. Set in 1951 following the development of a military stalemate, delegates will represent a character important to the decisions of either the forces supporting the Republic of Korea or the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. While each committee does not correspond directly to a formal executive body extant during the conflict, delegates participating in this engaging and challenging simulation will be obliged to grapple with the rising tensions between sponsoring powers and each Korean nation, while continuing to forge ahead with a campaign which could resolve the battle of global authority in the course of the nascent Cold War. Aside from the structure of the joint crisis, the vast authority granted to each committee and the untraditional military-strategic component, the simulation further deviates from traditional dorm with a number of procedural modifications. Potential delegates should be advised that successful participation in either committee will require significant prior experience in Model United Nations, and should expect to participate actively in the formulation of decisions and policy at all times
