NATO – North Atlantic Treaty Organization
Although the North Atlantic Treaty Organization is not part of the United Nations, it serves a critical role in the modern world. During the Cold War, NATO was the corner stone of the free world against the Soviet Union & the Warsaw Pact. Today, it operates valiantly in the most dangerous parts of the world, most notably Afghanistan. NATO contributes to a free and better world through various military and humanitarian aid. Although the Warsaw Pact does not exist anymore, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) emerges as a new potential threat to NATO operations around the world. In the NATO committee, all 28 countries will participate and discuss issues regarding both current and future issues. This year's NATO topics are the War in Afghanistan, and the growing presence of the SCO.
